詹妮弗·巴拉尔河

Associate Professor


Dr. 詹妮弗·巴拉尔河 teaches courses in strategy, 领导, organizational behavior, 人力资源, 以及雇佣法. Dr. 板状根 received the Faculty Teaching Award in the College of Business in 2021. She conducts research in the areas of strategic 领导, specifically executive behavior 和 board processes, as well as gender issues 和 social approval assets (e.g., reputation, status).

She has published in academic journals such as the Journal of Leadership 和 Organizational StudiesJournal of Business Research. Dr. 板状根 has presented numerous research papers at international meetings of the Academy of 管理, European Academy of 管理, Strategic 管理 Society, Southern 管理 Association, 和 Organizational Behavior Teaching Conference.

Dr. 板状根 has more than 15 years of experience in Human Resources 和 consulting at both for-profit 和 not-for-profit organizations including strategic planning, workforce development, 人力资源审计, 和 labor relations. She also holds multiple designations including Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute 和 SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SCP) from the Society for Human Resource 管理.

Dr. 板状根's teaching philosophy focuses on developing the career readiness of her students through application 和 practice of course material 和 helping them to recognize the complexities of real business contexts. Each course is designed to help students develop capabilities in critical thinking 和 problem-solving, especially when working in team environments. She is on a mission to change the way strategy 和 HR are taught, viewed, 和 valued.

Why did you decide to study management?

I started my first business when I was 9 years old, found my fit, 和 never left. It was never a question that I would study business but rather what I would study in business. I didn't know it would ultimately be teaching business though where I would find the greatest sense of fulfillment 和 purpose.
